We are studying the mechanism by which plants spontaneously build up their bodies as multicellular organisms. Each cell's identity is determined by its gene expression network. It is known that the gene expression network of each cell type is often determined by a small number of influential transcription factors, and identification of such influential transcription factors is key to research. However, tissue is not formed if every cell decides its cell identity arbitrarily. Communication between cells is essential for the organization of the body of multicellular organisms. Plant hormones and secretory peptides are known as intercellular communication factors in plants. We are trying to elucidate the mechanism of plant morphogenesis produced by interactions between cell-to-cell communication and transcriptional regulatory networks.
